Meet Health Office Staff

Hi, my name is Yia Leepalao and I am the school nurse. This is my third year with Bridgeview, but I have been a nurse for about 11 years. Previously, I have worked at other schools in the district, including the Student Placement Center. I am a graduate of the University of MN-Twin Cities and St. Catherine University. When I was pursuing my nursing degree from St. Kate's, I knew public health was where my passion lay. School nursing was an obvious choice and I am glad I went that route. I love interacting with students and families and helping them any way I can. 

I come from a large family, with five sisters and three brothers as well as many first cousins. There is never a shortage of family events! In my spare time, I love reading and watching TV favorites. I'm also a big Kpop fan and all things Hallyu! 

Teressa Ellman, LPN/ HA

I have worked at Bridgeview as a nurse in the classroom and in the Health Office for the past 12 years. I love being a nurse at Bridgeview and keeping the students healthy and ready to learn. I have earned my nursing license at St. Paul College in 1995 and received my Bachelor's degree in Biology at Hamline University in 2008. I have worked in various places throughout my career, specialty clinics and home care. 

For the past two years, I have been teaching CPR classes and critical care classes as my part-time job. 

I enjoy running, gardening, yoga, and spending time with family friends and my two cats.
