| We use music in the classroom multiples times throughout the course of a school day. I integrate music across disciplines in such activities as: calendar, morning meeting, when going over the lunch menu, during the monthly theme time, during music and movement time, etc.
Through the use of music in my classroom, I have noticed that my students are more motivated to learn. I have also come to the conclusion that by entering music into our daily routine, my students are retaining more information (i.e. identifying their body parts, remembering the words to songs they have learned, etc.) and I have also seen a reduction in problem behaviors.
My students look forward to the use of music throughout activities and I even have students who start singing songs before groups begin. Music seems to be therapeutic and engaging for my students and we have fun with it.
